How to handle Stress

Stress and tension can't be eliminated, but you can learn to cope with them better. Prompt, correct treatment can help a troubled person learn how to manage stress and limit the problems it causes. Stress is the reaction of your body and mind to a problem in your life that seems threatening.

Most stress is caused by three factors:

Environmental: crime, demands of family, demands of work, time pressures, money problems, unemployment
Physical: illness, accidents, medications, lack of sleep
Psychological: frustration, inner conflict, inter-personal conflict, pressures to achieve a goal, personal loss

Here are some ways of handling stress:
  • Try physical activity Running, walking, playing or working outside will relieve that "up tight" feeling. Remember, your body and mind work together.
  • Share your stress It helps to talk to a friend, family member, counselor or your doctor about your concerns and worries. If you feel your problem is serious you might want to seek professional help from a psychologist, psychiatrist or social worker.
  • Accept your limits If a problem is beyond your control and can't be changed at the moment, don't fight the situation. Learn to accept things...until you can change them.
  • Take good care of yourself If you are tense and upset from lack of sleep, or if you are not eating correctly, you will have less ability to handle stressful situations. Make sure you are getting enough rest and proper nourishment.
  • Make time for fun Play is just as important to your well-being as work. Take a break from your daily routine to talk with a friend or do something you enjoy.
  • Be a participant Help yourself by helping other people. Get involved in the world and the people around you and you will be on your way to making new friends and enjoying new activities.
  • Get back on schedule Go to sleep the same time every night and spend a half hour relaxing before bed. Plan nutritional meals at a regular time. Schedule a half-hour walk at a certain time each day. Doing things on your own schedule reduces stress.

eid ul Fitr Festival

Eid ul-Fitr ("Festival of the Fast Breaking"), which marks the end of the month of Ramadan, Ramadan is the month in the lunar calendar during which Muslims (believers in Islam) fast daily from dawn to sunset as part of an effort towards self-purification and betterment. This holiday at the end of Ramadan is known as Eid al-Fitr (Festival of Breaking the Fast).

After the end of Ramadan, a very festive and joyous holiday is celebrated by Muslims, known as Eid al-Fitr [eed ul fit-ur], the Festival of Breaking the Fast. On the day of the Eid, Muslims attend special congregational prayers in the morning, wearing their nicest clothes and perfumes.

After the completion of prayers and a special sermon, Muslims rise to greet and hug one another, saying “Eid Mubarak,” which means “Holiday Blessings.” Later on, Muslim families visit each other’s homes, and have special meals together. Children are often rewarded with gifts, money, and sweets. Lights and other decorations mark the happy occasion.
